Unit 2, Task 2, P2

Unit 2, Task 2, P2

An operating system is the level of programming that lets you do things on your computer. The operating system interacts with a computer's hardware on a basic level. It transmits your commands into language the hardware can interpret. Operating systems perform basic tasks. For larger systems, the operating system has greater responsibilities and powers

Machine and Peripheral Management: Peripheral management controls devices by sending them commands. It controls peripherals such as keyboards, mouses and printers.

Security: Computer security is the techniques that ensure that data stored in a computer cannot be read by someone who does not have authorisation. Most security measures involve passwords. Computer security also means that people cannot see or download your personal documents. It is the security system’s job to attack unauthorised users as there is a chance they could cause damage to the computer.

File Management: File management is a program that manages files and folders. The operations that are performed on files are usually creating, opening, renaming, copying or deleting.

Device Drivers: A device driver is a file that lets the computer know the configuration and specifications of a certain hardware device. Examples of devices that need drivers are hard drives, DVD drives and PCI cards. Without the driver file the computer will be unable to communicate with the device.
